So Much Wisdom…Clouds Your Road To Freedom

As many of you know, I am a huge music fan. Lyrics often grab me
and have me thinking about things in new ways, which is why I
take time everyday to open my ears and listen. Two ears and one
mouth means listen twice as much as you speak.

Yesterday I was listening to an old CD from a band not too many
people have every heard of – but they were amazing. (They broke
up in the early 90s but, the lead singer still is performing.)

Picture the scene. You’re a new online marketer and you’ve just published your first website! You’ve used some template driven program, and just like they promised you, it was up and running online in a couple hours. And now, like any new marketer that’s done their homework you scratch your head and come to this conclusion: “Now all I need is some traffic and I’ll be raking in the big bucks!”

LOL. Sorry but that is really funny. It seems logical…but? And what about all those places you can buy visitors to your website? Shouldn’t you just go out and pay for traffic and then all your problems will be solved?  (listen – I can hear the giant sucking sound coming from your wallet from over here).

Hard Work Equals Success? Maybe.

Today I was watching a little TV (yes I do that sometimes) and I saw a commercial from Geico that is just getting under my skin. The little green Gecko says proudly: “In business, hard work equals success.” gecko

Really. Hmmm…maybe for the novice this might seem like common sense. But if you’ve been working on your business for any length of time — and especially if you didn’t have any success at all for a long time, you know there is a whole lot missing from this “hard work equals success” statement.

If you’ve been marketing for a year or more, I’m guessing you understand the need for a sales funnel for your business. For the un-initiated, I’ll explain in plain terms. A sales funnel, also called a sales pipeline or sometimes a sales tunnel, is the path by which a person moves from being a “prospect” to a buying customer. Why do you need a sales funnel in you’re in direct sales or network marketing?

If you are looking for business leaders to expand your reach and increase your volume, you’ve already identified your target market for this task. Smart entrepreneurs seek out other entrepreneurs who already have a firm understanding of our business model. These professionals don’t need to be educated about how our business works. Sure, they will have specific questions about your individual compensation plan, product or service, and company history, and you are able to provide this information. Let’s assume you’ve identified network marketers as your target market to expand your organization. (This is one of the best things you can do by the way as teaching someone who has never been an entrepreneur to become one can be a daunting task).

Would you like to build yourself a blog, reach out to your niche, and let people know who you are, what you’re all about, and what you have to offer?  It is going to take some tenacity and willingness to learn new skills (but if you’ve read anything I’ve written, you know that both of these are required to make an income online!) Here are my thoughts on how to get started today.

Two of the most-used blog creators available are Blogger and WordPress. You can make a blog quickly using either of these. Neither require you to set up a hosting account. (A hosting account is an account you set up to house your computer files – the files that make up your websites). Basically, you make your blog within an interface that Blogger or WordPress provide to you, and the files are kept on their server.

Congratulations on making the decision to market your business online! The online marketplace offers a huge opportunity for virtually anyone to get in front of their target audience immediately. Further, if you are not marketing online today, you’re pretty much not really a contender in the game of commerce. Once you’ve decided to dive in and start online marketing, you’re faced with this nagging question – what should I do first? For this scenario, I’ll assume that you have at least a website, even if it’s a very basic one.

Have you been wrestling with the question of whether to learn HTML as an online marketer? If you don’t know what it is or how it’s used, it probably seems like a big, scary black hole you’d rather just ignore. But then you keep seeing nicely done, yet simple-looking one page web offers and you wonder – should I be doing this? Could I be doing this?

As an entrepreneur you are always faced with the decision to either outsource tasks or do them yourself. And this decision comes down to spending your money or spending your time, and finally, knowing that you can always make more money but you can’t make more time. So – would it ever be worth it to learn some technical skill such as HTML when you can hire someone to do it for you?
